Importing Serial Numbers and Locations
Values imported into the n.detail.serialnumber and n.detail.stocklocation fields are not validated by MoneyWorks (the assumption is that you have clean data coming in from the other system). For purchasing serialised items this is as expected, as the serial numbers will not exist. However for sales it is possible to sell a serial number that does not exist in MoneyWorks (this can be corrected if necessary with a Stock Transfer Journal).
If a non-existent location is imported on a detail line, it will be used in the imported transaction, but no corresponding new location will be created in the “Stock Locations” validation list. You will need to create this location yourself if you want to use the bogus location.
